With summer's warm weather just around the corner, you may find yourself more active than you've been in a while. That is a good thing! Navitas Naturals Wheatgrass Powder is the perfect superfood companion for the season. To help give you a boost, we're offering a 30% discount on our organic Wheatgrass Powder.
One of the greatest benefits of physical activity is the removal of toxins from the body. Did you know that your lymphatic system actually needs physical movement in order to function properly? It's true. Wheatgrass Powder is an excellent low-calorie tool to help you meet your activity goals and detoxification objectives.
Navitas Naturals' Wheatgrass Powder is loaded with energy-enhancing nutrients like pure plant protein (87 percent by weight) and more than 70 minerals and vitamins, as well as hundreds of live enzymes, amino acids and antioxidants. That's a super boost of energizing goodness that can help you maintain your rising activity levels as the weather heats up.
Navitas Naturals' Wheatgrass Powder is also a rich source of chlorophyll, which helps your body achieve an alkaline state that is essential for detoxifying and purifying. Research shows that a body pH level that is more alkaline than acidic is less prone to bacterial infections and illnesses.
Because Wheatgrass Powder is so nutrient dense, a little bit goes a long way. Navitas Naturals' Wheatgrass Powder is sweet and smooth and can be conveniently enjoyed any time. Simply mix a shot-size serving into an ounce or two of your favorite liquid for a burst of golden green goodness.
Our wheatgrass powder adds a nutritious boost to Green Energy Bars that you can make yourself, and it’s so easy to add it to smoothies, such as this Tropical Detox Smoothie. You can even add it to salad dressings, sauces, pesto and spreads (a green hummus is to die for!) to add a healthy, yummy boost.
Spring is here, and that means Major League Baseball is back in full swing. For this month’s Team Navitas Ambassador article, we interviewed Carlos Peña, the fit and powerful First Baseman for the Tampa Bay Rays. Carlos has been thriving in the big leagues for more than a decade, and is perhaps best known for his ability to hit home runs. We were fortunate to see him hit the 262nd home run of his career in Florida just before the interview. The home run was also his 1,000th hit in the Major Leagues, which is a great milestone for his career. Carlos is an avid smoothie-maker that credits his healthy diet and lifestyle as an important part of his success.
Navitas Naturals (NN): How does it feel to be back in Florida playing for the Tampa Bay Rays again?
Carlos Peña (CP): It feels as if I never left. It’s a true homecoming for me...very happy to be back.
NN: We’re glad to see that you’re off to a very strong start this season, any chance that superfoods are giving you a boost?
CP: I think it is all related. The better I eat, the better I'm going to feel, and the better I feel the better I'm going to play.
NN: What is your favorite Superfood?
CP: I love Camu for its high Vitamin C content, and Maca for all its great properties. I feel they keep me healthy.
NN: Do you have a special Carlos Peña “Home Run Smoothie” recipe that you routinely make?
CP: I like mixing some plant based protein powder with Camu, Maca, Navitas Twister Antioxidant Blend and Acai powder with some fruit for a boost.
NN: When did you take an interest in your sports nutrition?
CP: I have always been interested in keeping myself healthy. What we eat is extremely important and I’m always looking to learn ways in which I can improve my diet. Using the Navitas Natural products has helped me simplify the process.
NN: Do you eat differently than most of the other guys on the team, and do you try to give them advice?
CP: We all talk about it and many have asked me about the superfoods. I explain to them that it’s a very simple way to get everything your body needs to stay healthy and keep it working efficiently.
NN: I’m always curious about the dietary routine for athletes. For example, what is the food service like in the team clubhouse? Do they have organic or healthy offerings?
CP: All of our food is healthy and very well monitored. only highly nutritious food is offered to us in the clubhouse.
NN: I know that you are a big smoothie and shake fan. When you’re on the road do you still try to eat smoothies? Maybe someone should invent a highly transportable and durable blender?
CP: I take all of my Navitas Naturals products with me on the road… and yes, I need a portable high-powered blender!
NN: For home games, what is your typical pre-game meal, and how long before the game do you eat it?
CP: I don’t like to eat heavy before a game. That is why a nutrient dense smoothie is the best way to go. Even though a high-powered smoothie feels light, I know I’m getting everything I need and more.
NN: Do you typically eat anything during a game?
CP: I like to have the Navitas dried fruit berry Trail Mix… it's delicious and highly nutritious.
NN: As a veteran of more than a decade of Major League Baseball, what keeps you going strong, you don’t seem to get injured much, could that be a result of your nutrition and fitness training?
CP: I think nutrition and fitness training go hand in hand. They are both essential to staying healthy on and off the field.
NN: Have you tried yoga, or meditation, it seems like in the batter’s box you are so focused and calm, in a zone, does that kind of mindset take special practice, slow breathing or something?
CP: Absolutely, it’s very important to stay calm and focused regardless of what’s going on around me. I like to call it staying calm in the midst of the storm. That is a victory in itself.
NN: I have heard about your work as a philanthropist, is there a particular cause that you are fond of that you would like to tell our readers about?
CP: I am passionate about helping the youth in my country (the Dominican Republic). I would like to create more opportunities for them, and show them that dreams do come true and that if you believe, your hard work will not be in vain.
With Mother's Day just around the corner, moms everywhere are surely glowing with pride. Nothing makes a mom prouder than healthy, happy children. We're pretty sure that our Kids' Berry Bonanza Smoothie recipe that features our delicious organic mulberries is the perfect combination of healthy and happy that all children will love. This 60 Second Smoothie recipe by chef Julie Morris was featured in our Earth Day Smoothment in April.
Kids’ Berry Bonanza Smoothie
1 Cup Frozen Mixed Berries
½ Cup Navitas Naturals Mulberries
½ Cup Apple Juice
½ Cup Rice Milk
½ tsp Navitas Naturals Wheatgrass Powder
Blend all ingredients together until smooth. This recipe is vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free, and it makes about 3 cups (2 servings).
Organic Mulberries are one of our most popular superfoods for kids. Most often they are snacked right from the bag, added to trail mixes, or used as a nutritious substitute for raisins. The Navitas Mulberries give this kids’ smoothie a delicate sweetness that's perfectly healthy and full of yumminess.
Nutrient-dense mulberries are a great source of antioxidants. In particular, they contain resveratrol, an antioxidant compound known to combat free-radical damage. Resveratrol is most often associated with the cardiovascular health benefits of red wine. Mulberries are also one of the few fruits to be considered a protein source – boasting a respectable 3 grams of protein per ounce – and they’re also a good source of iron, calcium, vitamin C, and fiber.
Navitas Naturals’ certified organic, kosher, vegan and raw mulberries are made from the whole fruit. They’re the white Turkish variety of mulberry, which is shaken from the tree, hand-selected and sun-dried to optimize natural sweetness. The flavor is reminiscent of a dried fig.
The secret ingredient in the Kids Berry Bonanza is the protein-rich Navitas Naturals Wheatgrass Powder. It provides kids with a hidden green veggie nutrient blast without affecting the smoothie’s delicious flavor.
