nori sheets

Seaweed Superfood

Nori is seaweed (or algae) that originated in Japanese cuisine with celebrated culinary uses reported as far back as the 8th century. Once harvested from the ocean, raw algae fronds are pressed into thin sheets and dried using a process originating from the ancient art of Japanese papermaking. The resulting delicacy is ready to be enjoyed in all kinds of savory cuisine.

Low Calorie Superfood

Like most seaweed foods, Nori is a low-calorie superfood with an abundance of bioavailable nutrients. By weight, nori sheets contain almost 50 percent protein - the highest of any seaweed. The mineral-rich ocean saturates nori with an abundance of amino acids and minerals (including ten times more calcium and iron than dairy products), vitamins, antioxidants and lignans.

Nutrient-Dense Algae

The complex array of minerals in the ocean make nori a nutrient-dense solution to the waning mineral levels in land vegetables attributed to poor soil quality. It's a perfect food to add to your diet if you're deficient in any fundamental vitamins or minerals. The antioxidants, fiber and lignans in nori may contribute to healthy cardiovascular performance and boost immune function. A naturally low-calorie food, nori is not low on flavor, making it a terrific snack for anyone watching his or her caloric intake.

Nori is a healthy food, not a miracle drug. Health claims herein have not been reviewed by the FDA. Navitas Naturals products are not intended to treat, diagnose, cure or prevent any disease.

Salty, Sweet Umami

Umami is known in Japanese as the “5th taste”, defined as savory and mouth-watering. Nori’s salty-sweet and complex flavor encapsulates the umami essence. Of course, you can use this exceptional quality seaweed for your homemade sushi, but don't stop there! Cut it into thin strips and top off your salads, stir-fries and rice dishes. We also suggest that you use it like a tortilla for fresh veggies and fillings or eat a sheet straight out of the bag for a satisfying snack all by itself.

I feel safe to eat this Nori because Navitas is checking for quality, processing, and safety of ingredients since many misfortunes have made our oceans and its products have problems. Wonderful with sprouted brown rice as wraps, and of course sushi. I toast the Nori Sheet quickly over my stove flame for added flavor -- don't burn your fingers, use chopsticks or pinchers for safety, or toast in toaster-oven -- super quickly ! My cat loves Raw Nori powdered or clipped finely into her food, or as a treat, little pieces from my fingertips. She is very healthy now with eating raw Nori seavegetable -- good for cats and dogs too : - )
