Strawberry-Chia Margarita Sorbet

The chia seeds not only add nutrition, but create a cute illusion that makes the sorbet look like the outside of a seedy strawberry. You can use different flavors of commercial kombucha’s to create unique flavor twists on this recipe.


2 Cups Frozen Strawberries
¾ Cup Kombucha (unflavored)
⅓ Cup Tequilla
⅓ Cup Agave Nectar*
⅓ Cup fresh Lime Juice
1 Tbsp Navitas Naturals Maqui Powder (optional)
2 Tbsp Navitas Naturals Chia Seeds


In a blender, process the frozen strawberries, kombucha, tequila, agave, lime juice, and optional maqui powder into a smooth mixture. Add the chia seeds, and blend briefly just to mix , but leaving the chia seeds whole. Pour the mixture into a sealable container, and freeze for 4-6 hours, or overnight, until frozen through.

Chef's Notes

*Agave is a great (and traditional) sweetener to use in margaritas, but if a lower sugar version is desired, stevia may be substituted for part or all of the syrup. Sweeten to a level that is slightly over-sweet before freezing. The less agave is used, the more icy (and less soft) the ending sorbet will be.
