Nori Broccoli

roasted with sesame dressing

Roasted broccoli is delicious on its own, but add a little savory nori powder to the recipe mix, and the results are satisfying in an almost “meaty” way.


2 pounds Broccoli Florets
¼ Cup Olive Oil, divided
1 Tbsp Tamari Sauce
1 Tbsp Rice Wine Vinegar
1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
2 Tbsp Navitas Naturals Nori Powder
¼ tsp Garlic Powder
1/8 tsp Ginger Powder
2 Tbsp Sesame Seeds
sea salt


Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Place an oven rack on the most bottom shelf available.

Trim the broccoli and cut into florets. Transfer to a baking sheet, and drizzle with 1 tablespoon of the olive oil* and a little sea salt, and toss well, using your hands, directly on the baking sheet.

Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil, and roast for 10 minutes. Remove the foil wrap, and use a spatula to flip the broccoli spears over. Continue to roast for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until undersides are browned and slightly crispy, then remove from heat.

While the broccoli is roasting, make the dressing: Whisk 3 tablespoons olive oil, tamari, vinegar, sesame oil, Nori Powder, garlic powder and ginger powder together, along with 2 tablespoons of water.

Once the broccoli is roasted, dress the vegetables with the prepared nori mixture. Serve warm.

*You can also use safflower oil for this step in place of the olive oil. Safflower is better for high heat cooking.

Chef's Notes

This can be served as a delectable side dish, tossed with pasta, or served with cooked grains. The dressing can also be used for many other vegetables, including fresh green salads.
